Steve has served as senior minister with Suburban since 1986.  His primary areas of ministry include preaching, leadership, staff oversight, pastoral care, and community involvement.  Steve?s wife, Claudia, is also actively involved with the church.  She co-leads Suburban?s women?s ministry.  Steve and Claudia have three grown daughters ? Kristin and her husband, Chris, live near Pendleton and have one daughter, Helen and one son, Patrick ... Becky and her husband, Jaoob, live near Spokane, Washington and have two daughters, Amity and Dara ? Joni lives in Corvallis.  Steve?s favorite books are Amazing Grace by Philip Yancey and Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels.  Steve is also a fan of John Grisham and Tom Clancy.  He loves the Oklahoma Sooners, OSU Beavers, and the Indianapolis Colts.

A verse that Steve draws great encouragement from is:

2 Thessalonians 1:11 ? ?With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.?

Rick serves as the minister of outreach and discipleship as well as ministers to seniors. Overseeing evangelism, vistor follow up, leading Sunday School, Home groups and Bible Studies. Rick really enjoys being with people. The proud papa of three teenagers, he's been married to his wife Misty for 21 years. Rick's favorite authors includeFrank Peretti, Ted Dekker, and Tom Clancy. A book he currently loves to read is "The Ransomed Heart" by John Eldredge. Rick also enjoys reading spiritual growth books and commentaries.. Rick's favorite passages are found in Colossians 4:2-6

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message...Pray that I may proclaim int clearly...make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

Steven has served as Worship Minister with Suburban since 2003. His primary areas of ministry include leading worship and directing choirs. Steven also oversees the media, drama, and Communion serving teams. He leads worship from the piano. His favorite style of music to play is R&B. Steven's wife, Sunny, is also actively involved with the church in the children's ministry and a vocalist on the worship team. Steven and Sunny have two children, eight year old daughter (Noelle) and 2 year old son (Kyle). Steven Bjork's favorite author is Jim Cymbala. A verse Steven has drawn great encouragement from in the midst of storms in life is...

Ps. 62:88- "Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge."

Jamey has been the youth pastor here at Suburban since 2001. Jamey's ministry focus is in working with students from 6th-12th grade. His areas of ministry include teaching, recruiting and training volunteer leaders, overseeing all youth programs, planning mission projects, and leading worship for the youth. Jamey and Brandi have been married since 1996 and have two children. Brandi is currently the leader of ourdiscipleship group and a huge support in all areas of ministry. Jamey's favoirite books are Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels and Purpose Driven Youth Ministry by Doug Fields. One of the verses that helped Jamey see God and himself differently is...

Jerome has been a college pastor and/or ministry director since 1997, and at Suburban since 2003. Although his formal training is in wildlife management (which some say is equivalent to college ministry anyway). the Lord has given him a tremendous heart and love for college students. Jerome and his wife, Cynthia, have experienced college life and working with college students for many years. They love to connect with collegians, and help them connect with God.

Jerome and Cynthia have been married for 17 years and have three children. Both Jerome and Cynthia love the out-of-doors. They love fishing, hunting, backpacking, camping, archery, running, spending time with family, traveling, reading, politics, and music.

Colossians 1:28-29 "We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me."

Carey has been involved with family and children's ministry for 15 years and has been on staff at Suburban since 2001 in the children's area. Her responsibilities include the oversight of mentor development to meet various needs of marriage and family life, teaching, training, developing resources for family support, pre-marital and marital teaching, and pastoral care for families.

Carey's family is very involved with various aspects of the church whether it being Children's ministry, youth, discipleship, prayer, and mentoring. Some of Carey's favorite books are The Peacemaker, Family Shock, and Different Children Different Needs.

Philippians 3:8 "More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ, and be found in Him."

Kim began working with kids at the age of 12 and has never stopped! Kim has worked in children's ministries for over 7 years in everything from directing and teaching to organizing summer and after school bible clubs. Her desire is to see children learn about God's love and plan for their lives is what drives her to explore new ways to reach and teach children.

Her passions include spending time with her husband of almost 21 years and her three wonderful daughters. She and her family have enjoyed partnering together in international ministry and community outreach. They've been to South Korea teaching English Bible camps for kids and plan to go again.

Ephesians 3:14-20  Paul prays that the church, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, "to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filed to the measure of all the fullness of God."

Jim has been involved in church service for over 40 years. Serving as an Elder, Teacher, Small Group Leader, Minister of Outreach & Discipleship, and Executive Minister. Jim has also been involved in business as a small business owner and as an executive in a large corporation. Jim’s wife, Linda, has been involved in church service as a children’s teacher, women’s ministry leader, and Bible study leader. Jim and Linda have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Jim enjoys golf, fishing, sports, and reading.

Our Preschool and Daycare Center are ministries of Sububran Christian Church. We are dedicated to the loving care and teaching of children because we consider them to be one of the most precious gifts given to us by God. We have an excellent staff that is selected on the basis of their experience, enthusiam, personality and training. Our staff is interested and concerned for your entire family. If we may be of service to you, please let us know by talking to you child's teacher or caergiver. If your family is without a church home, please feel free to visit our services. Our church is indepent of any national oganization. We are a self-governing and strive to follow the teachings of the Bible as our only authority.

Cathy Phelps has been our preschool teacher and daycare director since 1984. She and her staff would be happy to talk with you about how we can serve your needs and the needs of your children.
